Red Dress Day 2024

The Red Dress WeHo event made a fabulous return to the City of West Hollywood on Sunday, October 6, 2024! Organized by the Los Angeles Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence, this vibrant celebration shone a spotlight on HIV and AIDS, inviting the community to come together, celebrate life, and raise awareness that HIV infections still occur. With a splash of red everywhere, the event also raised a significant amount for local nonprofit charities.

Eventure Productions was thrilled to support the festivities by coordinating the day’s schedule for all the participating West Hollywood businesses, creating eye-catching social media and print marketing materials, and installing all the necessary infrastructure to ensure a seamless event across multiple locations. Attendees were encouraged to don their most dazzling red dresses, honoring a beloved tradition that started with bartenders Mark Ferguson and Yves-Claude at West Hollywood’s Gold Coast Bar. These two trailblazers, both HIV-positive, made a pact that whoever passed away first would have the other attend their funeral in a red dress. Sadly, Mark passed away first, and Yves-Claude missed the memorial as he was out of town. Upon his return, Bob Hastings, the owner of Gold Coast Bar, proposed hosting an event where everyone could wear red in joyful celebration of Mark’s life.

The inaugural Red Dress Party Day kicked off at Gold Coast Bar in 1997, raising funds for HIV and AIDS organizations and quickly becoming an impactful annual celebration for 23 years. Yves-Claude may have passed a few years later from AIDS complications, but he witnessed the event’s incredible impact in building community awareness and providing essential support for HIV and AIDS causes. The 2024 Red Dress WeHo event continued this legacy in West Hollywood’s Rainbow District, where local businesses hosted an array of lively events throughout the day.

Eventure Productions also had a blast curating content to create a fun social-first reel and was excited to provide the winning prize for the first-ever Red Dress Day Queen, the fabulous Jackette Knightly. With proceeds benefiting the Black AIDS Institute (BAI) and Reach LA, this year's event was a resounding success and a true celebration of love, life, and community spirit!
